The Dias Festival - an annual highlight
The annual Dias Festival is a weekend-long celebration of culture.
Bartolomeu Dias arrived in Mossel Bay on 3 February, 528 years ago, and this day has become an annual commemoration thereof.
The Dias Festival is for people of all walks of life to enjoy one another's cultures. In addition to live performances by South African artists, as well as local talent, the festival programme also includes a cultural evening, performances at the Dias Museum, motorsport, flag jumps and fireworks. Every year there is a customary street parade, which concludes at the popular Santos caravan park.
