Elsabé Visser

"My favourite subject is portraiture, but I also love figures and still-lives" - Elsabé Visser, artist.

Elsabé Visser is a self-taught artist, but during her career she’s attended numerous courses: courses in water colours with Richard Rennie, Angela Idleman, Phillip Nel and Rhona Swartz; in acrylic with George Boys (in Portugal), Phillip Nel, and Spies Venter; and in oils with Isabel le Roux, Pieter Millard, and Spies Venter. She also spent four years studying various mediums with David Botha.

Elsabé owned an art gallery and framing business (in Vryburg, North West Province), where she sold many of her own paintings, and also represented artists such as Claerhout, Derek van Rensburg, Otto Klar, Karl Büchner, Chris Tugwell, Sonja Störbeck and Petra Stiglingh

And she’s taught: she presented art courses from 1997 to 2007, when she retired to concentrate on her painting. You can now visit her in her studio (by arrangement only: please call 082 956 4268).
